The Fashion Bug’s Story: It’s very difficult to express in words the emotions you go through before, during and after your wedding. But each part is so special in its own way. In the lead up I felt beyond excited and nervous in equal parts. I was always thinking about all the small details and worrying about how the day would actually turn out (it turns out I didn’t need to worry about the finer details because we had our entire venue cancelled three days before the wedding…but more of that later!). I couldn’t wait for it to begin because I was so happy to see so many of our friends, but once it actually arrives it goes by literally in a flash. We had three days of events (a boat trip the day before and a brunch the day afterwards) which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone planning a wedding because it allowed for us to ease into the wedding day itself and to really spend quality time with the people we love. Now on to the actual wedding day. Best way to describe it? I literally felt as though I was living out my own fairytale. Walking down the aisle and seeing the love of my life at the other end, being surrounded by all the people we love the most in the world, feeling so much love from everyone around us, seeing our visions for the decoration come to life, as well as a million other things made it the most special day of our lives. And then there are the feelings you have once its all over. I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness when I started saying goodbye to people because I realised that this might be the only time in our lives that all the people we love are in the same place for an entire weekend. But I also felt an immense sense of gratitude for every single guest for making it such a memorable weekend.
We had planned our wedding right down to the last minute detail, but life has a funny way of switching things up. We flew to Ibiza on the Wednesday in order to relax a little and do any last minute wedmin we hadn’t yet managed to do. Of all the things I had imagined that could actually go wrong at our wedding, what was about to happen was not one of them. Our wedding planner met with us at the hotel and informed us that she had just found out that our villa, which we had booked almost a year before, had been cancelled. Actually, correction: I saw her shocked upset face and I knew immediately that something was drastically wrong. For a few minutes I thought the world was crumbling down around me. I felt anger, sadness, rage and utter disappointment. I couldn’t believe that this was happening to us – after all the hard work we had put in to make the weekend perfect it seemed so unfair. However we soon realised that we had 95 guests arriving in the next few days and the bottom line was we now had no wedding venue. So somehow I pulled myself together and for the next four hours we went out on a mission driving around the island with our wedding planners trying to find an alternative venue. Amazingly, we found an absolutely beautiful one that ended up being even better than the original. Luckily for us, all of the catering, stylists, music etc were independent suppliers that had nothing to do with the original villa so we were able to keep everything exactly as originally planned. And when I saw the villa on the wedding day, I was blown away by how beautiful it looked. I guess sometimes in life things really do happen for a reason. You never know what curveballs life will throw your way, so its best just not to worry too much. We have an incredible group of fun supportive family & friends and at the end of the day whatever villa we would have ended up in, I am sure it still would have been the most magical memorable day of our lives. In the end all that matters is that you are with your favourite person in the entire world, so you need to just relax and enjoy each moment because it really is over in a flash.
We haven’t yet had our official wedding photographs back but I just couldn’t wait to share a few of my favourite pics with you all. These are only of the wedding day itself but eventually I will share some of the other events too! Hope you enjoy them xx
