Denim dungarees, cashmere jumpers and white blouse all available at Donna Ida.

Hi everyone! I am back from sunny California and I’m excited to share my latest post with you all.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to the Donna Ida boutique on Elizabeth Street to pick out some of my favourite Spring pieces from Donna Ida Thornton’s own collection. Pre-pregnancy I would have gone for lots and lots of denim pieces but obviously being 6 months pregnant at the time of the shoot meant that I was more limited in terms of choice. (I would like to mention here that the boutique offers an amazing service where you can buy a pair of non-maternity jeans and they will add some fabric to the waistband to see you through your 9 months – and then you can even have it removed afterwards!)

As well as stocking third-party brands, Donna Ida Thornton has designed her own range of denim know as IDA as well as a collection of separates known as The Donna Ida Collection. This collection consists of lots of beautiful cashmere jumpers as well as floaty blouses and shirts, and all the pieces are easy to partner with jeans, leather pants or skirts! You can dress them up or down depending on your mood/the occasion.

I picked out an amazing pair of dungarees called the “IDA Ramona Culotte Pinafore” that really gave me a boost when I put them on. At first I wasn’t sure if they would be bump-friendly but they totally are and are very comfortable too. The slightly cropped flared leg is very flattering and you can live in these during and after pregnancy (might be a bit of a squeeze in the third trimester.) I styled them with a simple white tee, and because I am on the petite side I added a pair of heels to give me a little bit of height.

Then there was the cashmere! I was almost spoilt for choice.  I’m all about bright colours for Spring so the yellow cashmere jumper was an obvious one to pick out (it also comes in a stunning fuchsia colourway or in black/grey if you are feeling less adventurous.) I also chose a playful cashmere jumper with an anchor on the front – I love anything nautical as it immediately makes me think of the summer, and monochrome pieces are easy to style.

The last piece I picked out was the floaty white boho blouse known as the “Come Fly With Me Blouse” available in both black and white. After months of wearing heavy knits, its always such a relief to slip into something lighter for spring. This top is delicate, feminine and just a very easy piece to wear with jeans/trousers. Day or night. It instantly adds a polished touch to any look.

Donna is often referred to as “The Jean Queen” and that she certainly is, but her collection of easy-to-wear separates is just as impressive. She is often in the boutique herself so if you ever want advice from her directly all you have to do is ask and she is more than happy to help! Or you can book a complimentary VIP denim clinic with her – more information here.

You can shop the pieces directly online here or at her boutiques located in Chelsea & Belgravia – more info on her website. xx
