Rediscovering Mykonos

Happy Monday!

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I spent the weekend in Mykonos. The last time I went was three years ago for a hen party and I had really forgotten just how beautiful the island is. I mean I completely fell in love with the place. This time it was also for hen party that I actually organised for a close friend of mine. I knew that my friend loves Greece and she has been many times to Mykonos so it seemed like the obvious choice plus I knew that all the other girls would be keen for a sunny weekend away.

Initially we thought about staying in a villa but to be honest getting 10 girls to all agree on a villa wasn’t the easiest of tasks so we thought a hotel would be an easier option. Boheme Mykonos is a small boutique hotel that is quite rustic in its design and has incredible sunset views. The rooms are quite basic but the staff were so friendly and its a 5 minute walk from town which is ideal (however I would still advise taking the hotel car or a taxi as there is no sidewalk and its pretty unsafe walking on the side of the road!) We had breakfast every morning at the hotel (which was delicious) and sometimes drinks in one of the rooms before going for dinner but otherwise we ate out the entire time. There are SO many amazing places to choose from and I discovered new places whilst there (one of my friends is Greek and has had a house in Mykonos all her life so she knows EVERYTHING about where to go and what to do. She even showed me a secret outdoor cinema in the middle of the town that you would never really come across if you weren’t in the know and OMG its so romantic!) We wanted a mix of really chilled out places with the more glitzy and fun and I think we had a great balance. I have put all my recommendations below.

And as for my outfits – I really wanted to stick to all white which I did (apart from one outfit!) as there is just something so fabulous about wearing white on holiday. My favourite items were the Solace dress which I slightly customised,  my new Alice & Olivia sunglasses which the girls referred to as my Iris Apfel glasses as well as my A Piedi x Rae Feather slides. But I also love my Pampelone dress which I take on every holiday now, my Norma Kamali snake print dress (which is now available in a gorgeous pink as well as white!) and of course my Soru earrings that go everywhere with me! Tips

Go to Spilia for lunch and have some of the best seafood on the island! Sea urchins and lobster are a must. The setting is beautiful but you need to either arrive by private boat or climb up a steep rocky face to get to the restaurant.

Go to Nammos for lunch. The restaurant is beautiful – you have the choice to sit in the original all white beach house or under the trees in the new section of the restaurant (which we opted for.) Its quite the scene so if you want to have a chilled out lunch go for an earlier seating as it can get quite crazy later on.

Have a traditional dinner at Katrine. Its been around for years and the food is fantastic. Try to get one of the few outside tables.

Have a fun dinner at Jackie O. Apparently Valentino is a regular there.

Have a relaxed lunch or dinner at Alemagou which is on Ftelia beach. When I went for the other hen three years we had a white night at the restaurant and then set off lanterns into the sky. It was dreamy.

Go to Interni if you want a bit of a scene at dinner. The interior is all white but set in a garden and its simply stunning. There is a bar you can stay at after dinner if you aren’t yet ready to call it a night.

Head to Caprice Sea Satin Market in Little Venice for an unforgettable night. One of my personal favourite spots. Its a very authentic environment where they play Greek music during dinner and you can expect lots of dancing on tables and breaking of plates. It gets more wild as the night progresses. Really good fun.

There is also a Nobu and a Hakkasan but to be honest I would avoid these as they don’t really capture the vibe of the island.

If you want to go on a proper night out then the club Moni is definitely the best. There is another called Astra but its better for a drink.
