Hi my lovelies,
Hope you are well. I have about two weeks to go until my due date, the baby is the size of a watermelon and I am SO excited to meet this little one! Oddly I feel the calmest out of any of my third trimesters – I mean maybe its not odd given its my 4th pregnancy but I am feeling very zen and my approach this time is to have zero expectations. It could happen any day but equally I could go way over like I did with Luna so I am setting in my mind a date that is a week later than my due date and that way if the baby arrives before that it will be a pleasant surprise. But I feel ready. Hospital bag is packed. I have all the necessary items I need for a newborn. I feel mentally ready. The only thing we don’t have is a name (for either gender – we cant agree on anything! So there is that….)
I’ve done an edit with NET-A-PORTER below – they have SO many gorgeous new pieces but I thought rather than focus on just newness I would focus on pieces that I find myself going back to again and again in my wardrobe. Pieces that, when I am not in loungewear, I find myself gravitating towards. Leather leggings, denim, timeless knitwear and much much more. I love that they buy many of these timeless pieces over and over again each season – that way you know its not just a trend. I definitely prefer to invest in a really high quality piece these days than to buy lots of things I wont wear in a year or so. Shop my edit below 🙂
Tops: bodysuits and tank tops are a MUST for any wardrobe. You can wear them pregnant or not – I love the Wolford classic styles the most and the Toteme tanks are an amazing shape.
Denim: I KNOW I will miss my bump but towards the end of pregnancy I always look forward to wearing jeans again. My absolute favourite brand is Agolde I just think the fit is so great but also love Re/Done. The criss cross style from Agolde will definitely be one I will be wearing once I can fit back into jeans.
Blazers: They are one of the things I would say every wardrobe needs. They go with everything. I pair mine with loungewear, with dresses, with evening dresses for date nights, with jeans and t-shirts for more paired down looks. I love Blaze Milano and The Frankie Shop.
Leggings: My firm favourite is still Commando when it comes to leggings (I LOVE the patent ones and the leather look ones) but there are lots of other options I have included below too. Pair with a chunky knit for an instantly put together look.
Knit Dresses: a good knit dress is such a wardrobe staple and SO great if you are pregnant too!! Pre lockdown this is basically all I wore. You can belt them or layer them with a knit but its the perfect alternative to loungewear. I have fallen in love with the brand AZ Factory – the pieces are quite an investment but the quality is incredible and the silhouettes so timeless. Same goes for Khaite which I have been a fan of since it launched.
Knitwear: Definitely would say quality over quantity when it comes to knitwear. If you want to build a capsule wardrobe you want to spend a bit more on pieces and brands that are timeless. I love Khaite chunky knits and the Alexander Mcqueen cable piece I am wearing here which looks so great belted too.
A Bit Of Sparkle: Not necessarily something you NEED in a wardrobe but I have and will always have a love for anything sparkly. I think a sequin dress in gold or silver always goes down a treat on a date night or on holiday. I love Retrofete and the Galvan Mykonos dress.
Pyjamas: DEFINITELY something worth investing in these days and even when lockdown ends and restrictions ease, I will appreciate pyjamas like never before! My favourites are Daily Sleeper, Olivia Von Halle and I ADORE this jumpsuit I am wearing (which can also totally be worn on the beach or dressed up in the evening!)
And finally Slippers: because honestly when are slippers ever not a good idea?! I always get questions about my Sleeper ones – I love them because they aren’t too bulky.
Hope you enjoyed and I cant wait to share my happy news with you soon! xx
